Queen Rose Hiking TrailThe Queen Rose Hiking Trail is located in the mountains east of Baberton in the Nelshoogte forest reserve. It follows the Montrose and Queens rivers and is possibly one of the most scenic trails in South Africa. It is ±330 km from Pretoria, between Badplaas and Baberton. I rate it as the best weekend hiking trail, (excluding the longer trails). For reservations contact: Marie or Wim (013) 71 24449 083 545 0900 or Roland (013) 712 2247 NDABA Hikers at Queensview hut. It is an average two-days hike with well graded climbing and descending between 900 and 1400 meters above sea level. The Total distance is 22 km, with 14 km on the Montrose section and 8 km on the Queens River section. Care must be taken particularly on wet rocks at river crossings. The Queensview hut is an old forester's home, with a wonderful view over the Lowveld in the direction of Baberton. The hut is equipt with electricity, microwave, warm water, fridge etc.
